It's never too early to be planning for your Arizona tax credits for the 2019 filing season!
The Public School Credit still stands at $200/$400 for single/married filers. Beginning in 2016, contributions made to a public school from January 1 to April 15 of a calendar year may used as a credit on the prior year's return...or you can fund the credit for your 2019 taxes anytime this year. The Private School Tuition Credit has been increased for 2019 to $1,135 for single filers and $2,269 for married filing joint returns. This can be paid by year end, or up to April 15, 2020 to still qualify for a 2019 credit.
Don't forget the Qualifying Charitable Organization (QCO) and Qualifying Foster Care Organization (QFCO) tax credits. The QCO credit has been enlarged to up to $400 for a single filer and $800 for married filing jointly. The QFCO credit is its own separate credit, giving the potential for up to $500 for single filers and $1000 for married filing jointly. Both the lists for foster care and the qualifying charitable organizations are growing so there are lots of great possibilities to choose from. You can find lists on the Arizona Department of Revenue website, or just let us know and we'll email them to you.
The Arizona Military Family Relief Fund is no longer open for 2019 but you could take advantage of this $200 single/$400 married credit for your 2020 filing season if you act early enough next year!
Give us a call if you have any questions about any of the Arizona tax credits!
