What a crazy year this has already been for all of us! At this point, we have no idea just what Tax Season 2026 will look like, but there are some things you can keep in mind as the next tax year approaches.
Consider taking advantage of Arizona tax credits for your 2025 return. This is a great opportunity to support local public and private schools, as well as a variety of charities, and get a dollar for dollar nonrefundable credit on your Arizona return. There are five major individual credits in play for 2025, and three of the five have been increased for this year. This could give you a "summer project" while you're inside trying to escape the heat!
Check out the Arizona Department of Revenue website at www.azdor.gov and click on the Tax Credits tab. You'll find information for the Qualifying Charitable Organization credit (QCO) which is now a maximum of $495 for single filers and $987 for married filers. There's also the Qualifying Foster Care Organization credit (QFCO) which is now a maximum of $618 for single filers and $1234 for married filers. Your public school tax credits can be up to $200 for single filers and $400 for married filers, and the Private School Tuition (which has two parts) can be a whopping $1535 for single filers or $3062 for married filers! The Arizona Military Family Relief credit is also still open, for $200 single or $400 married. That's a great one to support veterans services. You can potentially do all five tax credits at this point - we can help walk you through the process.
Another thing to consider if you want to support QCO and QFCO organizations and you're not sure which organizations are involved? Check out the website at www.givelocalkeeplocal.org for a great clearinghouse of over 30 different local organizations that have banded together to get the word out about the great options available for you!
